I remember the first time the smalahove was put in front of me on the table. It was quite fascinating actually, seeing people just putting their forks in the cheek of a head with teeth and everything still there. But I couldn’t eat the eyes. I’m too domesticated unfortunately. I know traditional Eskimo children eat raw fish eyes for snacks,and it’s really healthy.
But the air dried, Vest- Norwegian sheep ribs (pinnekjøt) is my favourite dish. My mum actually sent it to me in the mail for Christmas many times. When I eat it, I truly feel that I am feeding my viking DNA!
